Seven Silver Coins received from the Collector of Medak District

The department of Archaeology received seven silver coins from the Collector of Medak District on 22-02-2016. The seven silver coins were found by one Jinna Yadagiri, S/o Mallaiah during Employment Guarantee Scheme work on 16-01-2016 from Railpur village, Ramayampet mandal of Medak District.

Out of Seven Silver Coins five silver coins belong to Aurangazeb Alamgir the Moughal Emperor and Two coins belong to Mohammad Shah and Ahmed Shah of Later Moughals.

On the Obverse side of five silver coins legend in Persian reads as Aurangazeb Alamgir zad chu budher – e- muneer- sikha- e- dar- jahan with regnal eras i.e 28, 30, 33, and 47 and hijri eras 1095(1683 AD), 1098 (1686 AD) and 1101 (1689 AD).

On the reverse side of these five coins bear the names of mints i.e., Surat, Arcot, Multan and Darul Saltanate

Observe side of the coin issued by Ahmed Shah (1748-1754AD)reads Ahmed Shah -Badeshah- a -Gazi- Shah Alam – Bahadur - Sikka - e Mubarak with date as 1163 Hijri (1751 AD).
On the reverse of the coin reads as Sun- fifth- Julus - Maimanath manus- Zarb.

The obverse side of the coin issued by Mohammad Shah(1719 -1748 AD) reads as Mohammad - Badeshah- Gazi- Sikka- e- Mubarak.

On the reverse of the coin reads as Sun-Aud I- Zulus- Maimanath - Zarb.
