Architecture and Design Foundation [India] and the Department of Archaeology & Museums, Government of Telangana have launched a new initiative called "Children for Heritage" on 20th June 2015 at Quli Qutub Shahi Tombs, Hyderabad.

Under this initiative, heritage walks would be organized for school children (9th to 12th standard) from 52 schools to various heritage sites. This includes one walk per week, to different historic locations.

Some of the chosen historic sites are Qutub Shahi Tombs, Charminar, Paigah Tombs, Moulali Dargah, Raymonds Tomb, Taramati Baradari, Salarjung Museum, State Archaeology Museum, Chowmahallah Palace, Mah Laqa Bai Tomb, Hayat Bakshi Begum Mosque, Purani Haveli, Sardar Mahal and Spanish Mosque. This programme aims to encourage young students to understand the value of age-old heritage, the importance of its preservation and also to bring about awareness about the structures through these walks.

This initiative envisages inspiring students to be more sensitive and respect the vast historical and architectural heritage of the country and Telangana state in particular with a hope that in the future, these students, as responsible citizens will contribute towards the protection, preservation and conservation of these heritage sites.
